5 Things I Learned Taking an In-Person Motorcycle Class
Safety course teaches life lessons as well as how to stay alive on the roads
For several years, I’ve wanted to ride a motorcycle. I take that back. I want to drive a motorcycle. I suspect men never have to make the difference known. I want to be in total control of my own bike. Funny thing, besides riding behind a male a few times, I seldom rode one and certainly never drove one before I recently took a motorcycle safety course. I love the way women look on their own bikes though: Powerful and in control. That’s what I wanted. I got a lot more out of the class than that though.
I learned quite a bit from the motorcycle safety course, not the least of which was how to use a throttle. (Yes, I did learn a ton about how to ride safe and how to deal with the invisibility cloak motorcycles have.) How did I get past 40 without every having used a throttle? I’ve always ridden behind someone else on the fun toys. No one knew I didn’t know how to drive one. I don’t think anyone ever offered to show me. I don’t know I would have admitted I didn’t know how. How silly I was.
